Over time, beeswax undergoes a natural process called "bloom". It is a whitish film that appears on beeswax and is an indicator of the absence of impurities. This whitish film resembles crystals and snowflakes, a slight "frozen"-like outlook and is a valuable effect for all fans of beeswax candles. Beeswax with impurities does not foster this "bloom" effect.

If you prefer shiny candles, you can easily remove the whitish film by simply wiping (polishing) the candle with a soft cloth, a nylon sock or cheesecloth. The second effective method is to heat the candle lightly and carefully with a hair dryer. The good news is that if you don't want this effect, you can always restore the original shining effect of the candles with these two easy-peasy methods.
